2014 Presidential Candidates: Peter Mutharika (DPP) By: Henry Kachaje* He is leading the DPP, the party that plunged Malawi into economic abyss just about two years ago. The memories are very fresh, JB was booted out of DPP to pave way for Peter, the anointed brother to the then president of Malawi. Peter was very powerful. He would even fly in the presidential jet at will. He is also the learned law professor who once headed the Ministry of Education at the time his brother closed Chancellor College for about 8 months just to set scores with one little known Dr Blessings Chisinga, a law lecturer. Peter never offered any solution to the academic freedom saga.
