3 horrific responses from Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s Media Chat So a President live media chat is the fastest and necessary means to answering pressing issues disturbing a particular country- Gej decided to follow that path for the 3rd time since returning to office in may- and this time, had to answer red-hot questions to over 150 million estimated population. The media chat was done and dusted in less than 2hours, and surprisingly, the President failed to give appropriate answers to certain issues that deserved a decent and hopeful response. Especially when you remember they are millions of Nigerians listening attentively with a grim face, and ready to criticize when required. With certain issues like Security, Electricity, Education and Agriculture touched, however, did he give the right replies? Here are my analyses: 1) “I don’t give a damn about assets“– that was the horrendous response given by the President of the federal Republic of Nigeria, when asked about reasons he hadn’t declared his assets. Now what is more hilarious isn’t the manner of the response to a serious question, but a piece by the highly reliable Vanguard about the President declaring his assets back in 2012. But with the president strongly stating now that he never had plans to declare his assets, and even told the late President Umaru Yaradua about his intentions; it’s confusing to think there are some contradictions? 2) “Electricity blunder‘’ just when you thought the chat was heading to a negative direction, the president’s reply to a question on ‘Electricity’ was obnoxious and certain to facilitate that journey. He Said “When we were campaigning, we didn’t know Boko Haram would overtake the government priorities”. Now this reply is bound to raise eyebrows- It was more like the president already knows he’s under pressure, however, the manner of his response is hopeless. It in no way shows any improvement in the power house section anytime soon. 3) “Nigerians should trust me” on ending the reply about the National assembly that I find irrelevant, the president acknowledges his poor social network use for Nigerians destitute understanding of him. Well, these are entirely self explanatory, as we know the president is an ardent user of Facebook. Overall, the media chat was entirely fruitless. he also branded creating a dam too expensive, you can be my judge for that. and if you missed the program for any reason, you are lucky. Albeit, the president insists we should be patient for another year or so before judging his thread-bare works, our fingers crossed.
