43rd National Safety Week Emergency preparedness of IOCL Port Blair Terminal evaluated Port Blair, Mar 8 On occasion of 43rd National Safety Week, an Emergency Response Drill was conducted at Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (MD), Port Blair Terminal at Haddo yesterday in coordination with A&N Administration. The drill was conducted as an exercise to assess the preparedness of the Terminal at the time of emergency and the response time of its employees, workmen and security personnel in overcoming an emergency situation, by utilizing their own resources as well as the support from the various local agencies like Andaman & Nicobar Fire Brigade, NSRY Fire Service & Ambulance Service from G.B Pant Hospital. The Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Disaster Management, Transport, Relief & Rehabilitation, PWD/UD, Shipping, Smti. Punya Salila Srivastava was the chief guest on the occasion. Shri. M.S Baidya, Chief Inspector of Factories was the guest of honour. The drill was plotted around a hypothetical situation of a fire break out due to overflow at the manifold valve of a tank truck under loading at Tank Lorry Filling Shed (Bay No. 4). The Combating Team, the Auxillary Team & the Rescue Team of IOC Terminal under the leadership of Shri. Sudipto Roy, Terminal Manager, conducted the drill, a communication said.
