45th Annual Mercer Invitational Tournament The Hill School Day 3- Sun. Dec 21, 2014 7th Place Game Kent (CT) 67 Episcopal High School (VA) 62As is the tradition in the Mercer Tourney, the 7th place game pitted two tough teams who played hard and with enthusiasm. Kent came back to win from a 38-28 halftime deficit with senior forward Malcolm Regisford scoring 12 of his game-high 19 points in the 2nd half. 5th Place game Episcopal Academy 56 Masters (NY) 37 Mike Hinckley ’15 led EA with 17 points and Mike Jurzynski ’15 from Masters led all scorers with 23. 3rd Place game Peddie 46 Hill 38 Peddie (5-3) out-quicked Hill (9-2) to the ball throughout the game, and used a strong defensive effort to earn the 3rd place trophy. The visiting Falcons built a 33-21 halftime advantage behind 7-8 shooting from 3-point range. Peddie would break the tourney 3-point FG made record with 26 on the weekend. Hill improved defensively in the 2nd half, holding Peddie to just 13 points, but the Blues continued to struggle from the field. Hill finished a dismal 16-40 FG and managed to attempt only 5 free throws. Andrew Lundstrom ’15 led Hill with 8 points, and Sukhjot Bains ’15 led all scorers with 16 points, all in the first half including four from downtown. Hill heads off to holiday break, and returns to action at 4:30 at the USA Today’s #20 nationally-ranked team St. Benedicts of Newark, NJ on Jan 5th. Championship Kiski 52 Blue Ridge 50 Kiski used a big run out of the second half to build a 40-21 lead, and led 45-33 going into the fourth quarter. In the final period, Blue Ridge continued to surge back, taking the lead 46-45 before Kiski pushed back ahead 48-46 on a huge three pointer by Greg Bearer. Kiski would stay ahead the rest of the way. Dante Lombardi went for a game-high 23 to lead Kiski. Malik Johnson led Blue Ridge with 21 points.
