50-Vanguad, Friday, July 5, 2013 NIGERIAN YOUTH PROJECT FOR GOODLUCK 2015 MOTTO: NYP FOR GOODLUCK: Together We Build A United Nigeria Phone No. 07035257073, 07035182546, 08137083075, 08068999248. A COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF EXTRA-ORDINARY MEETING OF THE NIGERIAN YOUTH PROJECT FOR GOODLUCK 2015 HELD AT WARRI, DELTA STATE ON THE 2ND OF JULY, 2013. We the Leadership of the Nigerian Youth Project for Goodluck 2015, a socio-political organization committed to the re-election of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in the 2015 Election having watched with keen interest on the transformation agenda of Mr. President, and after an intensive deliberation on the state of the nation, the 2015 Presidential Election, the Security challenges facing the country, among other issues do unanimously resolved and states accordingly: 1. That we regret and condole with the families of victims killed so far by the activities of the Boko Haram Sect, the killing of Police Officers in Nasarawa State and others, and condemn in all ramifications, the character of certain politicians who are expected to contribute effectively in finding a lasting peace in the country rather than playing politics with national security. The fact is that the growing insurgency in the North is a matter of concern to all Nigerians irrespective of religious background or political affiliation. We therefore call on all well meaning Nigerians to come together and support Mr. President in the fight against this evil in all ramifications. 2. That we applaud Mr. President for been open-minded in employing dialogue approach by calling on the leadership of the Boko Haram sect to show up and embrace amnesty; we judge that no President is more liberal than President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GCFR) upon the fact that the insurgent Sect do not have genuine agitation, as no amount of agitation is worth the killing and bombing of human lives and properties. Despite the national threats posed by the sect, Mr. President magnanimously went ahead and inaugurated the Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution, an offer which the leaders of the Boko Haram sect rejected. 3. That we equally applaud Mr. President’s kind gesture for being a man with a listening ear and for being a democrat by consulting with members of the presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution which resulted in the release of certain persons that were detained by security operatives in connection with the activities of Boko Haram. 4. That we appreciate and support Mr. President’s declaration of state of emergency in few hotspots in the northern part of Nigeria in order to curtail the unpatriotic activities of Boko Haram. We support to the fullest the declaration by Mr. President describing the Sect as a terrorist group. 5. That having listened passionately in Mr. President mid-term report, we there say that the President has performed creditably in critical sectors of our economy, and of course we cannot expect magic to happen within the space of two years: development is no miracle especially in a nation that has suffered cumulative moral and infrastructural decadence in the past five decays. 6. That the mid-term report of Mr. President has honestly created the opportunity for Nigerians to assess the tremendous successes of the administration in last two years. We assess the areas of diversification of the nation’s economy from oil to Agricultural produce through the establishment of Growth Enhancement Support Scheme (GES) in a bid to expand farming and farmers ability to have access to farm inputs, the establishment of Agricultural University Education Programmes, establishment of Federal University across the six geo-political zones in the country, courage of Mr. President on the removal of fuel subsidy which previous administrations saw as a ‘No Go Area’, the establishment of Subsidy Re-investment Programme (SURE-P), the gradual progress made in the power sector, success in the area of Electoral Reforms, the signing into law the local content bill, as well as the freedom of Information Bill, among others. 7. That we commend the Chairman of the PDP Governor’s Forum, His Excellency, Godswill Akpabio for his capacity and competence in putting together not just the Governors but the larger family of the party. 8. That we wish to acknowledge the Chairman People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustee Sir, Tony Anenih and the National Chairman of the Party Sir. Bamanga Tukur for their roles so far in ensuring that the PDP remains intact ahead of the 2015 election. We therefore call on the party to endorse Mr. President and return him on-opposed which is in line with best practices world-over. 9. While we commend Mr. President in his effort in transforming the country, we equally wish to call on the attention of Mr. President on the need for massive youth employment in all sectors. We call on Mr. President to continue to strengthen the fight against corruption. 10. That we hereby call on Mr. President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR to contest the 2015 election as the constitution empowers him to do so, it must be expressly stated here that the Powers of who becomes the President of Nigeria resides on the people of Nigeria and not a section of few individuals in the country. 11. That we call on Nigerian youths to remain focused, peaceful and united, not to be used by selfish politicians in the country to perpetrate their evil intention. Long live Nigerian Youth! Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria! Comr. Okorodas Kenneth Ebibenabo Hon. (Barr.) Abiola Jimoh Director General Secretary General Comr. Okporu Augustine National Publicity Secretary
