$9.3m: NCAA may sanction pilot, crew members SEPTEMBER 16, 2014 BY UDEME EKWERE 14 Comments The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority may sanction the pilots and the cabin crew members of the private jet impounded by the South African authority over the $9.3m smuggled into the country. A spokesperson for the NCAA, Mr. Sam Adurogboye, who confirmed this to our correspondent on Tuesday, said the regulator did not take the issue of money laundering lightly. He added that the development was being investigated at two government levels. He said, “What I can tell you now on the issue as NCAA’s position is that money laundering is a criminal offence. The matter is being handled at two government levels; that is the South African government and the Nigerian government. “If at the end of the investigation, the pilot and the crew are found culpable, we will sanction them.” Meanwhile, a statement by Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor’s the Word of Life Bible Church, has denied any connection with the funds. The statement, which was signed by one Mr. Bayo Adewole, on behalf of Oritsejafor, said, “The Word of Life Bible Church has been made aware of the recent media interest regarding an aircraft (Bombardier Challenger 600, Registration No N808HG) owned by the company Eagle Air in which our Pastor, Oritsejafor, holds a residual interest. “On behalf of Pastor Oritsejafor, we can confirm that although he holds an interest in Eagle Air, the aircraft in question is not operated by Pastor Oritsejafor. The aircraft, owned by Eagle Air Company, who have confirmed that since August 2, 2014, the aircraft has been leased to, and is operated by Green Coast Produce Limited.” On its part, a statement by Mr. Emmanuel Ohaeri, on behalf of Eagle Air Company, directed all questions and issues regarding the aircraft to Green Coast Produce Limited.
