A HORRENDOUS IRONY: One would expect that a city populated by refugees who themselves fled persecution during Partition, should be more accommodating of the migrating millions. But no. - Times of India I have seen my North-Eastern friends and acquaintances curse being Indian. Initially, I was defiant of their hostile views and contempt; I guess I was wrong. Or more probably, I should say, they were right. Where on one hand, we have our Indian brethren settled in various countries, longing for their roots, on the other hand, we have some of our own people, living in a remote yet inclusive territory of India, cursing and embarrassed to call it their own. Nidos death is as grave, and should be, as the brutal death of Nirbhaya. The incident not only calls for the peoples sympathy, but also a sense of defence from such an incident occurring henceforth. The surprise government of New Delhi, the AAP government, has failed yet again to stand on its stead, also giving rise to what is known as an uncalled vigilantism. What makes it worse, is the partys head (who is also, quite unfortunately, the CM) defending the trend. Hard times! Dear Northeastern friends, let us stand for what is right, and stand strong on it. If the government cannot, we have to.
