A Mothers Journey: Okay where it begin from this crazy week. Lets start with yesterday: She had her blood work in the morning which came back good. She has had a bruise on her upper right leg from the vest she is wearing to straighten her back from leaning forward and playing, for a few weeks. While we were at the Valerie center she told me that there was a bump there which wasnt before. They felt it and wanted to get a ultra sound to make sure it isnt anything serious. It was scheduled for Wednesday at 11am. After the Valerie she went in for her mri at 10am. She went in the mri happy and ready to go by herself since i cant go in because i am pregnant. Halfway through the mri her tech came out and he told me in the begining of the mri she was upset because i wasnt in the room with her, so he sat with her until she calmed down and told him she was fine. Thats not like Debbie at all she never gets upset, i think it is because she has been very nervous about me going to have the baby in the hospital and has been wanting to spend a lot of mommy time with me which i am not complaining about it. I love it! After the 2 hour scan we headed to get her mibg injection. When we got there the nurse asked if i gave her her sski medicine (it protects her thyroid) and i said no, i totally forget about it. I felt so bad because she wasnt able to get the injection and that means it prosponed her scan. I was in a panic because she is suppose to start her actuate on Thursday and she cant without the scans done first to make sure there isnt any progression in the tumors. They tried to get the mibg injection for tomorrow (today) but they couldnt get it by Wednesday. So that meant she couldnt do the scan until next week cause it is one day injection and the next 2 days for scans. So i talked to her oncologist and she said that she can still continue the medicine as long as the mri scans came back good. I felt a little better hearing that, i felt horrible that this is happening and it was all my fault and of course Debbie told me it wasnt. Today: This morning she first had a checkup at the Valerie before her ultra sound. Her lungs sound great!! and her 02 was 100% She also grew 2 inches and gained about 3 pounds in 2 weeks! Her oncologist came in and told me the she got the mri results back and she couldnt read them because they were blurry. When Debbie was upset in the mri she was breathing heavy and that made the scans blurry. She said we can try to get a ct scan in today or tomorrow so she could still start the medicine this week, she was just waiting on radiology to get back to her to schedule the ct scan. While waiting for them to get back to her we headed to get her ultrasound scan on her leg. It went well, the bump was a build up of soft tissue and will go away on its own. After the ultrasound we headed back up to the Valerie Center to see if the scan was scheduled. She got Debbie in today at 1:30 for her ct scan. When i told Debbie she was going to do the scan today she got so upset because she wanted to go to school. To calm her down we stayed at the Valerie Center until the appointment and she played with Kelly from child life until it was time to go. Kelly always cheers her up. The scan went well and fast, except that i forgot to put her emblem cream on and she had to get a needle for the scan without the cream. Strike 2 for me. After the scan we finally headed home. Early evening we received a call from her oncologist regarding the results from the ct scan. GOOD NEWS: Her spot on the hip is stable and the tumor has slightly improved! YAAA we were all happy to hear that. Her oncologist from MMH contacted Sloan and they said she could start her medicine on Thursday. She will still do the mibg scans next week at MMH. She also noticed that her left femur is slightly elevated so we should take her to a orthopedic doctor, and she said it happens in paralysis. I think it is from her leaning to the right from her spine and that elevates her left hip. Which we are trying to fix with her wearing her vest. Tomorrow she goes to her physiatrist so she can check her hip, and to see what she wants to do with her boots that she just got that are making pressure points on her feet. These boots are important for her to wear because they stretch out her ankles. They are a little tight and we want her foot to be able to bend to 90 degrees. I tell you its always something, never a dull moment. Hopefully the rest of the week goes smoothly. Thank you for all of your prayers for Debbie, the truly do work. Have a good night everyone!
