A NAME TO CHERISH It was the belief in a village in India that when a person dies, he/she returns to the world as an animal to visit relatives and friends. Because of this belief, animals like snakes, ants etc were not killed in this village even if they were attempting to bite somebody. (This belief is not biblical. C/f Gen. 2:7: Eccl. 12:7; 9:5,6) One day, a seventeen year old literature evangelist went there to canvass - sell Christian books. As she was moving through the village one day, she saw a big python chasing after her. She shorted, Help! help!... She ran with all energy while the snake chased her zealously. The men in the village came out to see what was happening only to see a big python chasing the young evangelist. They said that the python might probably be her grandmother who had died, and they believed it had wanted to play with her. They, therefore, did not mind her because of their belief. When the young evangelist saw that it was becoming serious, she turned towards the python and shouted, Jesus! Immediately, there was a lightling which stroke and burnt the python into ashes. The men around were surprised; so they asked the evangelist, We heard you mentioning a name. What name was that? The evangelist answered, Jesus, the Son of the living God who Himself is God. He created the heaven and the earth. He is all powerful, and it is only through Him that we can be saved. He is the way, the truth and the Life. Many of the people in that village became Christians as a result of this incident. My dear friend, do you cherish the name Jesus? Do you know this name has the power to save you from your bad dreams, sicknesses, barreness etc? Trust in the name Jesus, O you sorrowful and sad without hope. When temptations surround you, pray in the holy name of Jesus Christ. There is no name in heaven or on earth that can save except Jesus name. Witches and wizards are afraid of that name. Whenever they hear it, they tremble at it. Dont mention it in vain for it is a name to cherish. May God bless you and enable you end this year safely.
