A National Grassroots Organization is a must Dear Ethiopian, We have seen the misery of our people and the fate of our country go worse by the day for the last 23 years. Yes there are organizations that are doing what they can to stand with the people. The fact is the brutality of TPLF is not abated. We have to come up with innovative means to get organized and help the struggling people in our country. We have to come together and support the people’s struggle. Old ways and old mottos are not going to bring us together. We have to find a way to get motivation from within. The way we organize ourselves has to change. It is not the nineteen sixties. Technological advances must be incorporated to organizations. It is not enough to have a website and an internet radio. The Ethiopian youth is savvy and quick to learn. On the other hand, this same youth is short on our history and in political involvement. The brutal Mengistu Hailemariam era and what has followed has broken the bridge that allows what Ethiopiawinet is to pass from one generation to the next. Thus the responsibility of true Ethiopians is twofold. The first one is to get Ethiopians organized into a National Grassroots Movement. The second one is to teach Ethiopiawinet to the next generation. Of course both have to be done side by side. When young Ethiopians understand what Ethiopiawinet means to them, they will organize and fight for it as their predecessors did. This is the organization that is going to take them to their and our Ethiopia. They have the means to train each other, campaign vigorously, research and find out what is needed, what and how to do what they target to do. It is not going to be just town hall meetings and once in a lifetime conferences. They will have web developers that will enable them to have online organizations, internet meetings, video conferences, and twitter chats. This is today and tomorrow will bring new ways of doing things. One thing is for sure. The Ethiopian youth will be ahead of it. There are many organizations in the Diaspora Ethiopian Communities. Each has put forward its own goal and means of achieving that. That is not going to answer our collective goal. Our collective goal is Emmama Ethiopia, where each Ethiopian has a democratic right that is not violated whenever those in power wish to, and where the rule of law is respected. Let all organizations that aspire to the liberation of our country get together and create the platform for our struggle.
