A New Disciple asked Stewart once, “How come you don’t have an open Bible with you all the time, like we’re supposed to have?” Stewart answered, “I don’t need to carry a Bible with me, because I’m a living Bible.” He added, “I am DOING the Bible on you.” This concept of being a “living Bible” did not mean how some people have memorized large portions of the Bible and can recite it. Traill meant that he was modeling the Bible to us. He was the living pattern, the Bible as demonstrated and lived through a human being. (Do I detect megalomania here? Jesus was God in the flesh. Stewart is the Bible in the flesh.) So, this must have been his explanation of the “killing our lives in the world, death to self, you must be scared out of your minds” pressure sessions and for all the name calling, like calling us arrogant, rebels, perverts, liars and cheaters. He was doing the Bible on us. Which leads me to ask, if Stewart Traill were a living Bible, what would this version be called?
