A Sunday ditty RIVER RUNS DEEP Coursing across a valley floor Born of rain a top a moor Dancing, playful droplets splashing Eddies, whirlpools, violence flashing River run deep River run wild Natures teasing, giggling child Through damp forests green Deep dark gorge’s rumbling unseen Slapping at the still air Gripping fog that is not there Cascading over wind blown cliff Winter hard, un-moving, frozen stiff Summer’s stifling heat cooled by you Stitches the land together like silver glue River run deep River run wild Natures teasing, giggling child Veins of life across this land To often plundered by mans hand Caged, controlled put in a box One day to embrace the shoreline rocks Run your course, run wild and free Because you my friend, are just like me Cut through this world a shining knife The thread of chaos, just like my life. River run deep River run wild Natures teasing, giggling child. © Dave Hayden
