A before and after photo of a figure competitor just popped into my newsfeed as a paid advertisement. It said, Anything is possible. I agree. Anything IS possible. I just want to see something else. I want MORE possibilities than ways I could make my body look. I want to see Anything is possible with a photo of a woman at a podium, traveling the world, signing her book, graduating with honors, delivering a baby (yeah, we arent supposed to talk about that gross TRIUMPHANT, amazing thing women can do), crossing a finish line... Losing weight can be a major personal triumph. For some, doing a figure competition is a major personal goal. Im not opposed to those things. I just want MORE options advertised to me, to my daughter. I want all these inspirational quotes attached to the idea that the world is within her grasp, not just the right diet. Anything IS possible. But something is amiss if collectively our biggest goals are only to become small.
