Today, very happy to report they now number in their hundreds, and this time one came very close to the boat and she is so laden with calf that i suspect on the next set of neap tides pregnant mums will calf on our front beach... if you are in the area, keep an eye out... you will see large numbers of Dugong bunched together in very shallow water, metre and a half, and one will be thrashing madly, it may last 10 minutes and all will go quiet and then mum will nuzzle the new born to the surface to take its first breath... Seriously, a fantastic experience if you get lucky enough to see this. This all happens 30 or 40 metres off the beach. Make sure the video is charged!!!
