A couple of months ago we took in a 6 month old named, Gunner. His left front radius was curved and too short. He saw Dr. Miller at Colorado Canine Orthopedics , who recommended surgery to straighten and lengthen the bone. Although it wasnt painful to Gunner at the time, the likelihood was high that it would become problematic as he grew & the leg would need to be amputated. CGA decided to spend the money to give Gunner a better chance at a more normal life. Gunner (now 8 months old) had surgery in late March and the leg is now straight. He has a fixator apparatus, which foster Mom, Jackie adjusts daily. She also does stretching exercises with him several times a day. It is a slow process, expected to take 2 - 3 months. Gunner, btw, is handling everything with extreme grace! Jackie says hes gentle, affectionate, playful and happy. Whoever adopts this handsome, loving boy will be getting a gem! Thank you to Jackie and her family, Colorado Canine Orthopedics & all of our supporters, for helping us to help Gunner!
