A couple of weeks ago my hubby went to the sand yard to get some sandy loam to top dress our back lawn & was told he needed a blended sandy soil instead. The blended soil obviously contains beach sand. Now that it is slowly starting to sink through into the soil all the other stuff in it is filtering to the surface. Today, whilst doing the weekly doggy do patrol, Ive discovered large sea shells, several big pebbles (big enough to put a hole in a window if the lawnmower hits it), twigs (about the thickness of my little finger & around 10+ cm long) plus a few largish shards of broken bottle. This is not acceptable for a lawned area where animals roam & small children play!
