A dear old man just dropped by our office trying to sell some - TopicsExpress

A dear old man just dropped by our office trying to sell some paintings he had done... I missed him as I was out the back & just saw him pass outside afterwards onto the next place... a little odd in the industrial warehouse area & it really made me feel very emotional - an awareness of just how many people may really be struggling just to survive.. at least some people are desperately trying to help themselves but how is it, in this commercial dod eat dog world we have seemingly created, do we help each other make life a little easier. I know theres plenty of charities to donate to but do they only find those to help that put themselves out there for help.. and the big ones have such high operating costs not all of your money really gets to those in need.. or you simply wonder if it really does. What about people who cant give money but may have time... I used to volunteer to help the homeless but when they were abusive and drunk it made it difficult to feel safe helping.. what about the poor, lonely people who dont know how or where to get help... I wonder every year at Christmas if there is anywhere we can go to spend some time or help provide meals to with those without family and friends at Christmas - is there anywhere that anyone knows.. not even just for Christmas?
