A demonstration by the English Defence League (EDL) and counter - TopicsExpress

A demonstration by the English Defence League (EDL) and counter demonstration by United Against Fascism (UAF) in Rotherham have passed peacefully. Around 100 EDL members came to the town today (Saturday 8 November) and held speeches on Main Street. A counter protest by around 25 UAF members was held in Rotherham town centre. The groups dispersed at around 2.30pm and the event passed without disruption or disorder. Around 60 police officers were on duty in the town to ensure the safety of the public and those taking part in the protests. Officers overseeing the policing of the event would like to thank the public of Rotherham and those taking part for their co-operation.
