A friend who is a follow sales colleague had an interesting encounter yesterday. When he went to one financial institution to sell books, this was the response he received we dont like reading. We wont buy books. If you were selling food, we would have bought some. Really? I was amused. I wasnt disappointed so much when he told me they didnt buy the books. As a salesman, I know that not every prospective client will make a purchase. But the response they gave was not only ridiculous but self-destructive. But honestly many of us have not spoken those words but thats what our actions show. We are more interested in buying food than in buying books. We have a stronger commitment to our stomachs (Stomach infrastructure) than to our minds. We have a favorite restaurant but not a favorite author. I can speculate that these people who gave him that response are regularly praying to God for blessings and increase. But God does not bless ignorance. You cant rise in life if your knowledge-base is narrow. The more you read, the more your options in life increase, the greater the possibilities for your future. The Bible says a wise man is strong. A man of knowledge increases strength. So which one do you go for; food or books? The holy book also commanded us to STUDY to SHOW yourself APPROVED! ‘’Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true’’. Acts 17:11
