A good friend of mine in rescue is struggling with a hard - TopicsExpress

A good friend of mine in rescue is struggling with a hard decision. she saved an older dog with some very noticeable issues. Since taking him in he has been self mutlating his tail, he has severe anxiety even in a quiet room. He destroys carpet and furniture during his episodes. He cries out like he is in pain for no reason the vet can find. He will never meet the criteria of being adoptable to a family. What quality of life does he have? When we rescue dogs is it just from death in a shelter or should we rescue them in different ways. He has had many years of something terrible enough to mentally break him. MY opinion is that the greatest rescue for him is to not have to endure the tortures of this lifetime again. I would rather know that he has peacefully met his maker than to live an agonizing existence never being right enough to know love.
