A good weekend of cricket was had with all our Mareeba teams except the under 16s winning their games. The Under 12s put in a strong effort to beat the Douglas Muddies Convincingly. The Under 14s also had a good win, beating the Douglas Muddies. Mareeba 6/162 and Douglas 5/129. Finley Green (Big Man) 3 overs 2 for 7, Tyson Brown 4 overs 1 for 7. Batting – Kobe Martin 28 retired, Kade Sturgess-Price 28, power hitting at its best, and Jimmy Carlson 22, solid as a rock. Next we had the Under 16s, after a frustrating first week it all come together for the boys on the second day. First day results Norths were 5/140 while Mareeba had a bit of collapse ending up at 8/112. On the second day the Mareeba boys made a good fight back after being bowled out for 146 and loosing the first Innings. They then went on to knock over 7 quick wickets for 61 runs. Mateen Latif was the top score with 41 and Liam Bombardieri 2nd with 22. Bowling went to Brandon Green with 7/36 and Dylan Brown with 5/29. The 3rd Graders outrighted the Mulgrave Toads after being rolled the first week for 115. They knocked over the Toads for 70 in the second Innings and then they got a quickfire 136 off 14 overs and declared, sending the Toads back in and they only made 60. The batting went to Rob Taylor 76 and Brendan Payne 38. The bowling was picked up by youngster Lachlan Ford 5/16 and Adam Roy 4/13. This weekend we have the under 12s playing at Borzi Park on Saturday against Atherton, the Under 14s at Kerribee on Saturday morning against Atherton, the Under 16s at Kerribee on Saturday afternoon against Mulgrave and the 3rd Grade Team at Kerribee on Sunday against Rovers.
