A little help here from experts out there on serial numbers. The Jeep I bought was a restoration by an owner who was not interested in authenticity. Everything on it, above the frame and power train is a reproduction, but this was reenactment Jeep for me, so I was happy to know I had at least a little WW2 in it. The frame is WW2 and the power train is in the process of proper restoration by a skilled mechanic. A clue to its origin was a partial tag the original owner had saved. The partial serial number is MB3379??. It is my understanding that (1) it is a Willys MB and (2) the tag should have 5 digits and the last 2 obviously could be 00 to 99. It is my understanding that the tag is the early type and the partial serial number would be a 1943 delivery. I need to know if that is correct and is there any way to possibly determine where these series of Jeeps went once they left the factory? Mine ended up as a snow plow in upstate New York, but its previous life is unknown
