Forever frozen in time Not a line or wrinkle Or even a gray hair Youthful evermore They paid a very high price To look young forever Because they died Before they could get old I think of these individuals From time to time. The actress and singer Oozing talent A recording contract signed and sealed Until a driver lost control And sealed her fate Gary, the brilliant addict Who made us laugh With his outrageous wit. One night the lights went out permanently After too much whiskey Shut his body down Sharon, the beautiful soul at work Brilliant, talented, a leader Newly married with a dewy complexion Always there to help Until cancer robbed the world of her glowing presence There are others Stuck in the past With lives cut short Their potential never allowed to fully unfurl I will always wonder Why?
