A message from Sol Solomon about The David Cassai Story (Sol Solomon is the Detective in charge of the Cassai Police Investigation. A profoundly moving presentation with a powerful message. A message that must be told and told and told again until it gets through to people that resorting to violence like this comes with consequences. These consequences which are clearly demonstrated here include; death, pain, suffering, grief and loss. All Permanent and life changing, for all involved, victims and offenders. I was one of the police investigators of this tragedy. I have seen many cases like this over the years; seen many lives destroyed because of momentary decision to lash out. It will only stop when the message finally gets through to people that one punch can and does kill. Violence can and does kill. So keep telling David’s story to everyone, in every forum possible as often as possible. I have a sense this time that through the work of David’s family and friends, in David’s name attitudes on needless violence may well be changing and that the message may be getting heard. So keep up the campaign. Rest in peace David Cassai. I never knew you in life but I admire the life you lived and the person you were. You held out your hand of peace to your aggressor on the street in Rye that night but it wasn’t taken. I hope that now and in the future others follow your example of non violence.
