A pleasure to be back on Sunday Morning Futures on Fox News with Maria Bartiromo, even on such a tragic topic as the terrorist attacks in Paris. [See video.] TV and Twitter arent designed for deep thinking on complex issues such as this, and it is very complex indeed. Its much easier to take sides, even the extreme sides, of a hot issue and to criticize those who can be painted as being on the fence. But I find in history and in the present day that criticism is easy and finding solutions is very hard. I have strong opinions on these matters, but realize the work to be done is somewhere between Islamophobia on one side and doing nothing on the other, not on either extreme. Democracies should not fight one type of fascism with another but the status quo is clearly unacceptable as well. I expect to express my ideas in an editorial this week and look forward to discussing it and these difficult themes here and elsewhere. We may all have passionate feelings about tragic events and how to respond, but let us think with our brains and not our hearts. Also a reminder to be civil to each other, at least on Facebook!
