A poem dedicated to all the teachers, published in the Gennext page in Todays Republica: To Thee, Teacher A person, active, dedicated And promising You step in and stand still, With so many innocent eyes Filled with immense hope and a little fear Looking at your face. You begin to pour yourself out. Slowly by slowly, The knowledge flows out And irrigates the inquisitive minds. With a vast ocean of love in your eyes And like a perfect caregiver, You continue down selflessly Until you empty yourself from within. So enthusiastic, energetic and active You are an all-rounder You are an all time favorite And your pupils hover round you. You are their singer You are their actor You are their role model And you are their all in one. You are their source of inspiration. Your heart is swollen with pride And you swagger off home With your mind still full of their memories. With a spirit, so lively and real You continue down selflessly Until you empty yourself from within. Time continues on and You fail to catch up with the time Your cheerful smile Turned into a useless grin No longer inspires anyone. Your melodious voice Turned into a hoarse uproar No longer draws the attention of anybody. Because You cant sing the songs of their heart You cant dance to their steps You cant feel their feelings. And yet So hopeful, so inspirational and so loving You continue down selflessly Until you empty yourself from within. Your success is what they desire Your happiness is what they aspire You spend a sleepless night May be because your pupils have spoiled their exams You desperately wait for the morning light to appear May be because the results of your students are going to be out The first touch of happiness glitters your face Your heart jumps with joy And you feel like dancing up to your hearts desire As if you had won a lottery. You run your eyes far and wide up to the horizon, For simply a few words of thanks. Your expectation, so little, so meager But lies unfulfilled and you are all alone And yet With so great a forgiveness You continue down selflessly Until you empty yourself from within. Your life but not your own You live but not much for yourself Your world, so small and so limited Your periphery, so unknown and so unspoken Your source of satisfaction, so little For a few words of honor shed you into tears Your faith, so delicate and so fragile And yet So patient, so calm and so grave You continue down selflessly Until you empty yourself for ever and ever and ever.
