A rebounding ridge of high pressure will usher in another strong warming trend this weekend, as sunny and dry weather continues. The apex of this next heat wave will occur on Monday, with widespread upper 90s and 100s returning to areas east of the Cascades, and 90s even possible in interior western areas. As a weak system passes through the region on Tuesday, a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms will develop. Behind the trough, brief cooling is expected around the middle of next week. Alas, the heat looks to return at the end of the period, as central areas could again surge toward the century mark.
