A time in history! First Olympic women’s marathon Aug. 5, 1984 Gabriele Andersen-Schiess came in 2nd place to Joan Benoit Samuelson 2:24:52. It took Gabriele more than 5 minutes to cover the last 500 meters of the race due to the humidity & dehydration, but race officials could not touch her, or she would have been disqualified. While the world watched, she stumbled across the finish line in 2:48 Thank you Up and Running for Life for sharing this amazing moment. #womensmarathon #first #olympic #dehydration #marathon
