A very disturbing rumour is emerging in Bangladesh today that the former ICT Chairman, Justice Nizamul Haq, is to be promoted to the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court in order to sit on the ICT appeals. One would hope that this is an unfounded rumour, but as most rumours to date have turned out to be true, there is serious concern as to the likelihood of his appointment. This would surely be the straw that breaks the proverbial back of the Tribunal in terms of its credibility. However, considering the controversy to date and the Tribunal continues to make irrational decisions bordering on the illogical, it is a legitimate concern.
