A very memorable night at The Laff in March 1975, for very different reasons! Drove over from Cannock in my old Cortina Mk 2, to see Rufus and Chaka Khan. Being pals with George (Maddocks), he took me back stage to meet the gorgeous 22 year old Miss Khan after the show. Came out around 2am to find my car gone off the car park opposite the club! It had been stolen by someone in Sheffield, who had nicked a car to get to Wolvo, and mine to get back. Got a call from Yorkshire police 2 days later, to say they had recovered the vehicle in Yorkshire if I wanted to collect it. It was at the time of the Lesley Whittle murder, and the search for the so-called Black Panther, Donald Neilson. When we arrived to collect the car it was covered in black fingerprint dust inside and out as a result of the murder investigation. What a night that turned out to be!
