A weakened Crimea is being manipulated by Russia to mark its quest for increasing domination over Europes energy supply. Future economic collaboration between EU and Russia is on a slippery slope thanks to Russias efforts to reduce its dependence on Ukraine (the main conduit for Russian gas into Europe). So, it seems Russias radical plan could be to absorb Ukraine into its territory and deal directly with Europe, in addition to the current construction of the Black Sea pipeline that bypass Ukraine. All of this is with little regard for human rights and historical peace that Tartars have cultivated for centuries living in the region, hence why Russia is defiant about the Crimean issue.
