A well known grace minister says frequently that if you are depressed, youre just self centered. Listen to me - that is a sulfuric lie from the mind of satan. If you are depressed, you are still loved. You are still valued by the father. You are still one of his children. You are not self centered, self indulgent, or missing something. You still have the fullness of the godhead within you, you are simply put - suffering. Jesus answer to suffering was not to accuse the one suffering of being self centered - it was to enter into their darkness (and yours) and take it on, experience it to the fullest, and offer it back whole. There is nothing wrong with a broken person, a sick person, or a depressed person. They are just as worthy as anyone else of his love and affection.
