A wind advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Monday. Strong northwest winds will persist through Monday afternoon, gradually diminishing starting around sunset. Northwest winds from 25-35 mph will occur today, frequently gusting to around 40 mph. Wind chill values will be in the single digits above and below zero, with coolest values expected across southwest Minnesota and east central South Dakota during the morning hours. A wind advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast to be 31-39 mph or gusts will range from 46-57 mph. Winds of these magnitudes may cause minor property damage without extra precautions. Motorists in high profile vehicles should use caution until the winds subside.
