A wounded soldier and The Defence Minister. Last Sunday I got a call and it was in third attempt when he said I am Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar I could understand who has called. Strange? but true. :) On flag day a joint petition (brain child of Maj Navdeep) was mailed to him by me and thus the direct call (see pics). He was in office on Sunday and we met in evening. I dont know if there is any precedence of such direct one to one call by any Defence Minister to a soldier but I am the lucky one. We discussed matters on: 1. Unnecessary litigation against soldiers to be stopped. 2. OROP (by 80% he meant satisfaction level to be achieved not part of 100%.) 3. Resettlement means of young retiring soldiers. 4. Perception of MoD to be changed to more positive and forces friendly. When top man is positive and pro soldiers I am confident there will be a mark difference in culture of MoD in time to come.
