ALS often called Lou Gehrigs Disease, is a progressive - TopicsExpress

ALS often called Lou Gehrigs Disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. I first heard about this disease back in high school when I read Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom ( Great book btw). I am no expert about the disease but throughout the years have researched the disease more and more. This past year with the help of ENACTUS Michael Ely and I, helped a few students start a can drive to help donate for ALS. We hope to expand this project for this upcoming school year and be able to impact more high schools and not just fight against ALS but other issues within our community. Now I was nominated by Daisy Santana to do this ALS challenge and I now nominate Viviana Castaneda, Tania Castañeda, Noemi Cervantes, Valentin Gonzalez, Michael Ely, Miguel Àlvarez Alcalà and Eduardo Fuentes. Tienen 24 horas! So Ive heard various comments about this challenge and how we are wasting water which in my opinion you should first take a look at how long your showers are and then judge people for throwing ice water on themselves to raise awareness about the disease. For mine I decided to do it a little bit different but still have the same point of raising awareness for ALS. If you want to learn more about the disease alsa.org
