AMBATTUR PUBLIC MEETING. - TopicsExpress

AMBATTUR PUBLIC MEETING. Yesterday I attended the public meeting held by AAP Ambattur volunteers near Murugan Temple in Ambattur. The meeting was well represented by our volunteers. Many general public were sitting as audience some even with children in their hands. There were lot people standing in nearby shops who were watching and listening to the fiery speeches by our volunteers. Many locals had enrolled themselves as members of AAP. I was awe struck by the talents we have in AAP,I mean the speakers in the public meeting. Gone are the days when we had shortage of quality speakers during parliamentary elections, now we have speakers who are bold and daring speaking on various subjects. I feel we need to make a data base of District level Public Speakers in all districts give them some Orientation and training (some speakers were over aggressive and using singular words about constitutional heads which could have been avoided otherwise it was excellent). There was a controversy whether we can use posters for advertising or getting our message across. There is also a view that posters are illegal. Our party is selectively covered by the print and electronic media. Most of the times we are blacked out compared to other local parties. What do we do? How do we reach the public in our neighborhood with our message? Poster is an excellent tool for immediate reach. This is my personal opinion. Every one has the right to differ from my view. We are a political party. We cannot and must not behave like other National and regional political parties. At the same time on the contrary we certainly cannot behave like an NGO we are a political party in character that means we mean business ie:- to form a Government of our own. Although our aim is to clean the political system of corruption we also need a government to do it. Primary objective should be to capture power. (We could bring about some change in Delhi only when we had the Government). Again about printing names in the posters I feel there is nothing wrong in printing a local volunteer or an office bearers name or a chief guests name in the poster. If an office bearer or volunteer has to be visible in his locality he has to be made visible reasonably. During the freedom movement although it was under the leadership of Gandhiji the whole nation was fighting there were local leaders like V.O.C, Chinnaswami Subramanya Bharathi, Tiruppur Kumaran, Sathyamurthy, Periyar, K. Kamaraj, Rajaji,Subramania siva, Sathyamoorthy who were made visible locally by pamphlets, posters and wall writings. Hence I feel there is nothing wrong in having a local face in every Booth level, Ward level, Assembly level, District level and State level and promoting them. Gandhiji did not do it alone. (Once again friends it is my personal view) Just because some one is projected unduly they don’t become leaders and people Just like that don’t accept, unless he proves himself and is inspiring. Who ever is performing for the party can be projected. Now there was a situation that one person’s name was alone projected in big font size in a poster, this situation could have been avoided. I am being told that was not the mistake of the person whose name was in the big size, It was the desire of the person who designed the poster who decided on the font size. I hope this will be fine tuned when the new state committee takes over and brings in guidelines for printing posters.
