AN OVERVIEW OF HON. AHAMED ALIYU WADADA The path to integrity and honour is narrow and littered with sharp pebbles. It is lonely because many people who would have loved to follow it lack such scarce resources as courage, perseverance and the ability to endure hardship and setbacks, which the venture demands. Although such aspirants may have clarity of vision to foresee the greatness which lies at the end of the tunnel, they lack the endurance and Willpower to embark on the journey. Those who ignore these obstacles and undertake the trip become weak-kneed. They stumble and fall on the way. Invariably, the path to integrity is a road less traveled because it is curvy and sloppy, littered with the adequate preparation. In the metaphor of height as greatness, people of integrity are tall men who, standing out from the crowd, see and behave above the level of events. This accounts for why, more often than not, they do not speak the languages of the immediate generation. Their words and actions are rarely understood by contemporaries because these are futuristic. In majority of cases, such men are stigmatized as maverick or eccentric by Opponents since their logic of action and interpretation of excellence are unique only to them as a class, they are easily written off until their position on issues are becoming obvious only in retrospect. It is then that their methodic madness consolidates into authentic heroism which the same cynical society bedecks with garlands of honour. Although men of integrity are a minor ratio in the gamut of dominant forces on which power predicates in a system, their passion for excellence comes as drops of water in a sea of problems, until it escalates to a whirlwind against the prevailing orthodoxy, and opens new Visions for collective development. Althoug1 it inflicts mortal pain on the flesh of those who traverse it, the path bestows and bespeaks the inevitability of progress in the society, which it leads to, ultimately. Integrity is the only durable material on which bridges between communities, regions, religions, nation and generations may be built. Hon. Ahamed Aliyu Wadada his landmarks and footprints at the national assembly in which he was tried and worthy of a true representative on record. We need a replay of the role of fate and faith in the life and times of men of principle and character. People like Hon. Ahamed Aliyu Wadada come once in a long while and they naturally stand out. They have the intellect, Vision, drive and energy to get things done properly and on time. Hon. Ahamed Aliyu Wadadaþ, a rare and committed gentleman to the service of God and humanity and has never for once allowed his personal interests to over-shadow his love to serve humanity. This is why a lot of people at home and elsewhere see him as a beacon of hope to the down – trodden. These virtues are beginning to be recognized going by the plethora of Honours and Awards cum endorsements from reputable organization and individuals on the great icon.
