APC/PDP - THE TRUE PERSPECTIVE By Joe Odey - Cross River State Publicity Secretary, APC Youth Frontier. The argument that there is no difference between the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is preposterous, puerile and lacks substance. Those propagating this false and utterly unfounded notion are obscure PDP propagandists. These people have taken it upon themselves to launch vitriolic attacks on APC using cheap and baseless underhand antics. They resort to this dirty mudslinging because there is absolutely no ground to truly disparage or reprove APC for the party has outperformed PDP in terms of developmental strides and raw delivery of democratic dividends to a blighted people. After fifteen awful years of barely disguised dictatorial rule, have we as a country benefitted tangibly from the much touted impact of the PDP led presidencies? Has it not been one scandal after another, one national disgrace every week? Yet some citizens are still unabashedly holding and enunciating that they support this party who’s only enduring insignia and emblem is CORRUPTION, dirty disgusting CORRUPTION. Deep in our consciences, even if self-interests prevent some of us from verbalizing the truth, we still recognize that APC is, and remains the only party which embodies, the yearnings and aspiration of the people of this country. The stellar performance of the sixteen governors in APC attests to the fact that the country is poised to see radical transformation once Nigerians give the party the mandate to control the thirty - six states and the centre in 2015. Let me state at this juncture that the movement of five state governors and some key members of the National Assembly to APC last year should not be misconstrued or misinterpreted. Due to the overbearing influence and patronizing posture of the PDP led federal government, these noble servants of the people and unflinching defenders of democracy found it impossible to function effectively and constitutionally in their constituencies. It therefore became imperative that they embrace APC as it had provided a viable and credibly democratic alternate platform. Anyone who has held public office before, will understand that truly, one cannot operate under the absolutely corrupt shadow of the warped PDP umbrella. Ideologically, APC is a welfarist party. It subscribes wholly to the political doctrine of total responsibility for the welfare of every single citizen. It is never a party of the bourgeoisie only; it has never subscribed to the practice of pilfering state funds for the comfort of a privileged few. In 2015, Nigerians will demonstrate to the world that APC is the only political party worth their votes. We should also be conscious that the doors of this great party are wide and truly open to every progressive who desires to join the vanguard of change. Intending members should contact local ward officials in any part of the country for registration and issuance of a membership card. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!! Long live APC!!
