ARE YOU IN THE PIT OF DESPAIR CAUSED BY REBELLION AGAINST GOD? Jonah had been given a powerful and hard task by the LORD GOD. He was to go and preach Repentance to a Nation who was Israels Enemy. This angered Jonah for he wanted them punished and NOT REDEEMED. Have you ever felt the LORD wanted you to reach out to someone who had been mean or ugly to you and your family? Has HE ever asked you to apologize to someone and you dug your heels in and said no, or just ignored HIM? Has HE ever asked you to WITNESS to someone of HIS LOVE; and you put it off, or just didnt go, because they were not on your Social Level? We have all been a Jonah at times, I feel sure. The OMNIPOTENT GOD, LORD OF ALL CREATION will NEVER Call Us To Do Something HE WILL NOT EQUIP US TO DO. If you dont remember anything I say. Remember that. Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their WICKEDNESS IS COME UP BEFORE ME. JONAH 1:2 The LORD is NOT slack concerning HIS Promise, as some men count slackness; but is Long-Suffering to us ward, NOT WILLING THAT ANY SHOULD PERISH, BUT THAT ALL SHOULD COME TO REPENTANCE. II PETER 3:9 Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his GOD out of the fishs belly, And said, I cried by reason of mine Affliction unto the LORD, and HE Heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and THOU heardest my voice. For THOU hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all THY billows and THY waves passed over me. Then I said, I am cast out of THY sight; yet I will look again toward THY Holy Temple. The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast THOU Brought Up My Life From Corruption, O LORD my GOD. When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto THEE, into THINE HOLY TEMPLE. They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. But I will sacrifice unto THEE with the voice of Thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have Vowed. SALVATION IS OF THE LORD. And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land. JONAH 1:17;2:1-10 As we read Jonahs prayer we can so identify with Jonah, as his cries out to the LORD, for we have all seen our soldiers killed and persecuted, and wanted death and destruction for those who killed them; Jonah had seen his people butchered; which we will see if we read his story further. I encourage each of you to continue to read this story, and ask the LORD, how does it apply to you personally. As Jonah cries out to the LORD, he is remembering all of the torturous acts of the Assyrians against his people. Through Jonahs testimony and sharing the LORD, the whole nation repented. Does that need to be a calling for us today to pray for the Salvation of our enemies? For truly our LORD does not wish for any to Perish, but All to have Eternal life. HE hath shown thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD Require of thee, but to Do Justly, and to Love Mercy, and to Walk Humbly With Thy GOD. MICAH 6:8 I leave you with a Challenge....as you study the Bible, ask the LORD what you are to get from these precious Words of HIS; WORDS OF LIFE AND NOT DEATH. Our enemy has a god of DEATH...We HAVE THE ONLY TRUE GOD...A GOD OF LIFE. Just as with Jonah, there is so much we can learn when we Hear and LISTEN with our Hearts. Thank YOU, ABBA FATHER for the wonderful Book of Jonah and its Beautiful Story of a GOD OF REDEMPTION. FATHER, thank YOU, that YOU saw through my sin and Filth and Redeemed me.
