He welcomes the decision of the Belgian courts: “Despite the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission set up in the country, the government has made no effort to prosecute those guilty of the atrocities committed during the civil war. Charles Taylor was sentenced by the International Criminal Court in 2012, but for crimes committed in Sierra Leone.
