ASUU strike is over 4 months...Nigeria future leaders as they say has been asked to sit at home while the almighty ASUU and Federal Govt tussle in power.... in as much as we all want our students back in school, I feel we have come to far to give up... we have lost 4 months already, waiting a little bit longer to ensure that this whole mess is sorted once and for all... Lets see it this way, Nigerian employers complain that our graduate are not employable, every year, our universities graduates half baked and poorly trained graduates whose content totally differs from the certificate they carry. If this must change, our lecturers must be well paid. The best students should be lecturers and teachers, but if they will have to be, the pay must be attractive... and the environment where they teach must be world class. Some Nigerian companies has better research lab than most federal universities.. The future of this country is at stake, youths are being encouraged to focus on entertainment and sport.. national awards are given actors, footballers while our student are suffering in the four walls of the university. There is no economy in the world that has boomed based on entertainment or sport. Multinationals in Nigeria will rather sponsor reality TV shows or football clubs and sign jaw breaking contract with musicians and actors rather than invest in developing Nigerian universities.. ASUU shouldnt give up, if federal govt insist on not being able to stick to the agreement, they should sell off the armoured cars, merge agencies and ministries, take salary cut....
