ATHENA - ID#A0993199 I am an unaltered female, gray and white Pit Bull Terrier mix. The shelter staff think I am about 3 years old. I weigh 45 pounds. I was found in NY 10460. I have been at the shelter since Mar 06, 2014. This information is less than 1 hour old. Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal: A volunteer writes: In Greek mythology, Athena, the daughter of Zeus, is the Goddess of many things, among them, justice, wisdom, arts and literature. Wow, a lot for a little 45 pound girl to live up to! I would add, beauty, as our Athena is a head turner! A slate gray little pocket pittie, Athena is tail waggy affectionate, freely giving hugs and kisses with my invitation. Likely housetrained she went potty as soon as we were out the door and alternated between having wonderful leash manners and pulling from time to time. She ignores other dogs on the street, but in the backyard welcomes them with an easy wave of her tail, never too excited, but simply happy to see another four legged friend. As staff comes over to meet her (shes so gorgeous who can resist?), she wags her tail happily at the attention, thrilled to make new friends, and sad when they had to go back inside. When she sees me put my hand in my bag, she knows a treat is coming and sits automatically. How smart is she?! Athena has had a litter relatively recently, but is ready to retire from being a mom and simply be a cherished family companion. Shes a sweetheart of a little girl, compact, gorgeous, low key and gentle. Every inch of her lives up to her historic name! Come meet her today.
