ATTENTION SINGLE PARENTS WHO LIVE IN THE YARRA LOCAL COUNCIL AREA. A motion is being put to the next council meeting concerning the shifting of single parents from PPS to Newstart when their youngest child turns 8. This motion will be supported by as many local single parents as possible attending the public meeting. It will go to the council meeting on Tues 25th June at Richmond Town Hall. The meeting starts at 6.30pm, general business is around 7pm. Motion: THAT the Mayor writes to the Federal Members for Batman, Wills, Scullin, Jaga Jaga, Kooyong, Calwell and Melbourne, seeking their support for a reversal of the recent decision to move thousands of sole parents off the single parent pension and onto Newstart.
