About had a heart attack this morning. Took the girls to Petsmart to see their 75% off Halloween stuff, and a French Mastiff greeted us at the door. And when I say greeted, I mean that it was a dog being held by by a little boy that had been left outside by himself. The little boy very obviously couldnt handle the dog himself, and actually when we first pulled in the dog was being held back by three children but they had gone inside by the time we got up there. Anyways, we walk up, the Mastiff sees Izzy and literally just runs at her. Izzy starts to run back into the street with the Mastiff on her ass. Izzy is flipping out, nipping at this huge dog running at her. I grabbed the leash of the Mastiff, and I couldnt even hold the damn dog back. It takes me and this little boy to try to wrangle his dog and his Mom comes out, only after Izzy gets so scared that she pulls herself out of her COLLAR to get away from the damn dog! She seemed like like a friendly, excited and oversized dog. But had the circumstances been different, man. I was so mad. Not at the dog or the little boy but that this Mom comes out and shes apologetic but she starts to scorn her kid for not holding onto their dog. I say, Uhm, it wasnt his fault. He cant hold the dog by himself. Hes physically not able to hold the dog. Hell, I cant hold the dog. No one got hurt, Izzy is fine. But my heart stopped when I see this big ass dog running towards us. The dog met us in the street. She could have gotten hit by a car. Also, who the hell told him to take the dog outside of the building?! He obviously couldnt hold her back himself, and that wasnt when the dog even saw our dogs. Grrrr. People, just take care of your animals. Understand the limits of small children or family members with giant doggies.
