Advent day 13 comes from Morven’s Uncle Grant who has chosen to ‘entertain’ everyone with a GBC medley of songs that pulled us all round the UK and Ireland when we thought it might just be too much. Have a wee read and a look at his video. I would like to first of all thank the great staff at Billy Bilsland Cycles https://m.facebook/profile.php?id=541849399236070 for the incredible support they gave us throughout the whole process of the Great Big Cycle. Right from the beginning when I bought my bike they have given us their time, expertise and money asking for nothing in return. We would not have made it round without them and we can’t say enough about how massive their contribution was to the smooth running of GBC. Thank You so so much. It was an easy decision for me to agree to take part in the GBC. Seeing how difficult it can be for my brother and sister in law raising Morven with cystinosis leaves me constantly in awe of their strength and love for each other and their daughters. We all do our bit to help raise money for the charity but no one else sees it and has to deal with it on a daily basis like the parents of children with cystinosis. The medication is unpleasant and has to be taken frequently meaning sacrifices have to be made to ensure Morven doesn’t miss vital doses of medicine. Neil and Alex put their lives on hold for the year long planning and training for this cycle and I’ve never been so proud to call them my brother and sister in law. Not every part of the GBC was pleasant and everyone had their techniques for pushing through that barrier and getting to the next level. One of mine was to sing my way through the pain and luckily I wasn’t alone in this. I asked my fellow cyclists and support crew what songs helped them over the hills, through the rain and in to those parking spots and this is what they came up with. Enjoy!
