Africa look at yourself Author: Phokohla Freddy Khoza As the time changes and societies evolve With the past bitter pains of imperial injustice You tend to look at yourself with pride of sovereignty You ask yourself am I really Africa or am I Europe or am i America Your skin is black but your inner self is gradually turning white Africa look at yourself With your staggering amount of wealth and beauty But lack of independence makes you weak and vulnerable With social formations which depreciate your economy With pressing illnesses and poverty levels You ask yourself were did I go wrong Did you bring this upon yourself? Africa look at yourself The loss of norms and values and devaluing of culture The adoption of imperial thinking, dressing and living Has brought to you class contradictions and distinctions Will you be ever able to find yourself?
