After losing last week 4-10 to the Savages, the Titans took on the Savages again in todays ball game. Things didnt look too good early in the game as they found themselves down 10-1 after the 4th inning. However, the 4th inning was the last inning the Savages would score a run let alone get a base hit. #4 Brandon Vargas came in for relief in the 5th inning and finished the game on the mound for the Titans and holding the Savages scoreless and hitless over his 5 innings of work also striking out 7 hitters. Brandons excellent pitching gave the Titans a chance to chip away at the lead and start a comeback. The Titans began their comeback in the 7th inning scoring 4 runs which was led by a big 2 out 2 RBI base hit from Alex Seider. With the lead cut to 5 runs, the Titans came back up to bat in the 8th inning to continue right where they left off. 4 more runs were put on the board with 3 coming from a big Myles Vargas 3 run homerun. With the lead cut down to 1 one, Brandon got the Titans back up to bat with a quick top of 9. Jeremiah Roberts battled in the lead off at bat to work a walk and put the tying run on base. After a strikeout, the Titans kept working the count and took 3 walks in a row. Roberts scored the tying run from a Gavin Lee walk and the top of the lineup was up. With the winning run on 3rd and 1 out, all the Titans needed was a semi deep fly ball in order for Dayne Litchfield to score. With leadoff hitter Antoine Chatman up to bat, he sent a fly ball to deep left center which was caught and deep enough to make it no contest on the throw in from the center fielder and ending the game on a walk off sacrifice fly. Now the Titans, Savages and Indians all hold a 15-5 record. The Titans last regular season game will be on 9/7 against the Smokies.
