After some business in the Frederick area I did the northern west-east passageway route on my way to my parents in Parkton, through Thurmont, Emmitsburg, Taneytown, Westminster, and Hampstead. I recalled many trips this way with my father and brother going trout fishing around Thurmont. And I recalled seeing Ku Klux Klan members on a street corner in Taneytown. Steve Earle even wrote a song about what it would be like to be a black boy in such a place. Im sure there are many wonderful people there, but good grief its hard to imagine such things persisting in this time, but I hear they still make their appearances there. Yes we have a long history of freedom of speech in this country and I am not advocating censorship, but good citizens should make it well known that such things arent welcome in their town. youtu.be/RML22z-EAFU
