After weeks of resisting it, I was just forced by FB to open their Messenger app. This in order to I read a message that I needed to see and could get at no other way. Now the new app is pestering me fairly relentlessly for my cell phone number and physical location (neither of which I intend to supply even if I have to shut down new and old apps entirely). Clearly, FB would like me to use Messenger from now on instead of phone texting. But thats not what my agreement was with FB when I began using it and its not how i want to roll. Not sure what Im going to do about all this yet, but I am sure that I dont appreciate being muscled over to a new app and then hounded for my personal info. Heres hoping popular outrage persuades FB to reintegrate the two functions.
