After winning the teams in the Baw Baw 4 hour last year, Chris Fice was pretty up beat about returning to Mt Baw Baw again over the Australia Day weekend for the GMtb twilight 3 hour. It was explained to me to be mostly fire and XC Ski trails so I thought I would be in for a bit of gravel road riding at about 1500 meters above sea level. We arrived at aprox 2.30pm and the race brief was at 3.40 pm so we didnt get to do a lap of the track. Once the race started I was surprised at how much single track there was, and it was loamy soil, alpine forest and some good quality techy single track. FOR those that have raced at lake mountain it was of a similar type of trail. A rider with good skills could defiantly make up time on the wonderful descents. Lucas Sprossan once again showed his Class by winning the event, He rode Solo and beat every solo and every team by a very large margin. Leigh and Chris Fice came third in the teams. If you get a chance to race at Baw Baw do it. Martin.
